Eid -ul-adha Of Sacrifice or Qurbani 2009

Would you be intimate with some one, so intimate that to hear their name you would sacrifice all your wealth?

Would you be so understanding about your companion intimate that even upon signs you would care enough to satisfy the need of the moment.

That is the biography of Prophet Ibrahim peace be upon him, and that is the plot for the Eid.
The only one who knows the innermost matters of a persons heart is Allah. When Allah decided to make an affluent youth his khaleel (intimate friend),the angels were surprised. Why wouldnt they be?There is not even a speck of space where the angels are not performing devotional gestures.Angels are infact very close to Allah. They are so pure and subservient, always willing to heed to Allah's commands. And they are clean from any form of disobedience. The angel most dearest to Allah is the archangel,Jibreel(Gabriel)( peace be on him). He is also know as roohul qudoos(holy spirit). So Allah gave him a chance to test his chosen one.

With Allah's permission angel took the form of an old man and a believer. The old man went near the gates of the palacial home of prophet Ibrahim(AS).He was standing in the balcony looking over the works happening there. From below near the gate the old man uttered "subbuhun quddusun rabbul malaikati warruh"(holy and most holy is the lord of angels and spirits). Prophet Ibrahim(AS) was so attracted to these words which he had never heard before, the words that mention about his intimate companion that he fell into a trance and running down the stairs he rushed towards the gate.He searched frantically for the person who has spoken so beautifully regarding his lord.He found the old man and requested:

Ibrahim(AS): Please repeat those beautiful words once again.
Old man: No, I wouldn't.
Ibrahim(AS): I beg of you.my ears are longing to hear those words about my lord once again.
Old man: Ok.But would you give me 1/3rd of your property in exchange of that?
Ibrahim(AS): Yes, I agree.

Three times did Ibrahim (AS) asked the old man to utter those words as everytime he said his heart was more intoxicated by those words and three times did the old man took his 1/3rd property. But when he was left with nothing Allah granted him his property back and the angels were amazed with his love for Allah.

When Ibrahim (AS) was very old he had a son Ismail. As a father his love for his son was obvious. But one night when he dreamt about sacrifising his dear son,he felt that his love for his son is surpassing his love for Allah. And he felt that the dream was an indication. In order to satisfy his heart that his love for Allah is greater and these wordly love is nothing compared to it,he went to sacrifice his dear son ismail. However as he was about to put the knife over his son's neck, on Allah's command Gibreel(AS) gifted Ibrahim(AS) with a sheep  which would suffice as his sacrifice.

Today whoever perfoms qubani remembers this incident. But if we look into our hearts is our love for Allah as great as that of Prophet Ibrahim(AS)? Today we sacrifice a goat to complete this way of Prophet Ibrahim(AS) as shown by our beloved prophet Muhammed (SAWS). The recommended way is to feed the livestock for some months and love and care for it like a family member. The sacrifice it on this day fulfilling the prescribed ways of our nabi (SAWS).

It is true that poors would get a chance to relish on the day of Eid, but more than that the qurbani is a practice to keep a check on the things we are associated with and to see where it stands compared to love and devotion for Allah.

Would we let go our pride, which we hold most dear? to seek an apology to build accord, peace and harmony?
Would we let go our longing to have Fruit Sundae, and give that money to the needy?
Would we let go indulgance in our old habits for more better and reformed life?

This day we celebrate Eid, for the efforts of Humankind to build relationships that matters, forever.

Chat Widget For Blog

A Chat Widget?

For some one into blogging, the search for the right kind of widgets is like a sine curve.

One of the widgets that you can put into your blog, is something that could provide you some additional collaborative capabilities.

Most people prefer an asynchronous mode of blogging, to See then Observe then Think how it relates to events happening around. AND finally to undergo the pain of putting those observations\Visuals\Thoughts\Feelings into WORDS.

This does not rule out others who would prefer a synchronous or impulsive mode of expression and collaboration.

That is where Meebo comes in, Meebo gives your blogs a capability of asynchronous collaboration.

Its a feature for a blog,BUT chat and blog are like Tennis and Soccer they have separate grounds for each.

Google Wave once released would make it possible to play Tennis and Soccer on the same ground, just play one game or morph from one game to the other.

Until then-
I want you to reconfigure the design, so start reconfiguring! - Skipper

Qurbani: Prophet's (sallalahualayhi wassallam) share

Qurbani is wajib(obligatory) on:

1.Free (not a slave)

2.Muslim

3.Muqim (not a traveler)

4.Owns the amount of nisab of zakah.

One more thing about qurbani:

Nabi (sallalahualaihiwassallam) made qurbani on behalf of his ummah. Similarly, it has been narrated that Sayyiduna Ali (radhiallahuanhu) used to make qurbani on behalf of Nabi (sallalahualaihiwassallam).
Hanash(radhiallahuanhu) mentions: I saw Ali doing qurbani of two rams. So I asked what is this? He replied that Nabi (sallalahualaihiwassallam)bequeathed that I do qurbani on his behalf. Therefore, I am.

Hanash (RA) mentions that Sayyiduna Ali (RA) used to make qurbani of two rams, one for Nabi (SAWS) and the other for himself. When questioned regarding this he replied that Nabi (SAWS) commanded me. Therefore, I will never leave this practice. (Tirmidi 1495)

These narrations show Nabi (SAWS)’s love for performing qurbani that even after his demise he still wants qurbani to be performed on his behalf.  Therefore, whoever loves Nabi (SAWS)  should also try to do qurbani on his behalf and fulfill his wish and desire.

Dhu'l Hajj : 10 days : Virtues

Verily, all praise belongs to Allah, the Most High, and may the Blessings of Allah and Peace be upon His Prophet Muhammad and his family and  companions, all of them.

It is narrated from Ibn Abbaas that the Prophet(SAWS) said: There are no days in  which righteous deeds done in them are more beloved to Allah than these days, i.e. the ten days (of Dhu'l-Hijjah). [al- Bukhaaree, Abu Daawood and others].

It is narrated from Ibn Umara That the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings  of Allah be upon him) said: There aren't any days greater, nor any days in which deeds done in them are more beloved to Allah, the Most High, than these  ten days( of Dhu'l-Hijjah). So, increase in them saying of Tahleel ( La Ilaha  illa Allah), and Takbeer ( Allah Akbar) and Tahmeed (al-Hamdu li-llah). [ Munsad Imaam Ahmad]

The Types of Deeds in These Ten Days:

   1.  The performance of Hajj and Umrah, and these are the best of deeds that may be done. And what indicates their superiority is a number of Ahaadith, one of which is the saying of the Prophet: Performance of Umrah is an expiation of the sins committed between it and the previous Umrah, and the reward of the Hajj that is accepted by Allah, Most High, is nothing but Paradise, [Bukhaaree, Muslim]
   2.   Fasting during these days - as many of them as may be easy , (for one to fast); especially the Day of Arafah. There is no doubt that the act of fasting is one of the best deeds, and it is from what Allah, the Most High, has chosen for Himself, as in the Hadith Qudsee: Fasting is for Me, and I am the One who gives reward for it. Verily, someone gives up his carnal desires, his food and his drink for My sake ..." [Bukhaaree, Muslim, Maalik,  Tinnidhee, Nasaa'ee & Ibn • Maajah]From Abu Qatadah that the Prophet said: Fasting the Day of Arafah will be credited with Allah by forgiving one's sins of the previous year and the following year. [Muslim]
   3.  At- Takbeerm and adh-Dhikrrzj in these (ten) days, because of the saying of Allah, in Surah al-Hajj, verse 28: ...And mention the name of Allah on the appointed days ... This has been explained (by some) to mean the ten days (of Dhu'l-Hijjah), and the scholars consider it desirable to increase adh-Dikr in these days, based upon the hadith of Ibn Umar narrated by Ahmad, which contains the words: .. so increase in these days the Tahleel,Takbeer and Tahmeed. It is reported about Ibn Umar and Abu Hurairah that The two of them used to go out to the-market place during the ten days (of Dhu'l-Hijjah) saying [in a loud voice]: Allahu Akbar, causing the people to also say it. [al-Bukhaaree].Ishaaq narrates from the scholars of the Taabi' een that in these ten days  they used to say: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar Laa ilaaha ill Allah Wallahu  Akbar, Allahu Akbar Wa li'llaahi al-hamd.(6) It is a beloved act to raise the voice when saying the Takbeer in the markets, the houses, the streets, the Masjids and other places, because of the saying of Allah, the Most High, in surah al-Hajj, verse 37: ...that you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you ... The saying of Takbeer in congregation, i.e. everyone pronouncing the Takbeer with one voice, is not permissible since this has not been transmitted (to us) from the early generations of the Sahabah and those who followed their ways. Verily, the Sunnah is for everyone to say the Takbeer individually. This is generally applicable to Dhikr and supplications, except if one doesn't know what to say. In that case he may repeat after someone else until he learns (the words to be said). It is also permissible to make Dhikr with all the different wording of Takbeer and Tahmeed and Tasbeehrn, and the rest of the Islamic legislated supplications (from the Qur'an and Sunnah).
   4. At-Tawbah (repentance) and abstaining' from disobedience and all types of sins, since forgiveness and mercy are the results of deeds. Disobedience is the cause of being far away (from Allah, the Most High) and repulsion, while obedience is the cause of being near (to Allah, Most High) and His love. In the hadith of Abu Hurairah he said that the Prophet said: Verily Allah has a sense of Ghairarsi, and Allah's sense of ghaira is provoked when a person does that which Allah has prohibited. [al-Bukhaaree and Muslim]
   5. Doing plenty of Voluntary (nafl) righteous deeds of , worship like Prayer, Charity, Jihaad, reading the Qur'an, Commanding what is good and forbidding what is evil and other such deeds. Verily these are amongst the deeds that are multiplied in these days. It is during these days that even the deeds that are less preferred, are superior and more beloved to Allah than superior deeds done at other times.
   6. It is legislated in these days to make at-Takbeer al-Mutlaqoi at all  times of night and day until the time of the Eid Prayer. ,. Also, at-Takbeer al-Muqayyadnoi is legislated, and it is done after the (five) obligatory  prayers that are performed in congregation. This begins from Dawn (Fajr) on the Day of Arafah (the 9th of Dhu'l-Hijjah) for those not performing Hajj, and from Noon (Zhur) on the Day of Sacrifice (10th of Dhu'I-Hijjah) for those performing Hajj (Pilgrims); and it continues until Asr prayer on the last day of the days of Tash-reeq (13th of Dhu'l-Hijjah).
   7. The qurbani of a sacrificial animal (Adhiyah) is also legislated for the Day of Sacrifice (10th) and the Days of Tash-reeq (11th, 12th and 13th). This is the Sunnah of our father Ibraaheem - when Allah, the Most High, redeemed Ibraaheem's son by the great sacrifice (of an animal in his place). It is authentically reported that the Prophet Muhammad sacrificed two homed rams, black and white in color, and said Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), and placed his foot on their sides (while slaughtering them). [al-Bukhaaree & Muslim]
   8. It has been narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet said: If you see the Hilal (new moon) of Dhu'l-Hijjah, and anyone of you intends to make a sacrifice, then he should not cut (anything) from his hair and his nails. [Muslim and others].And in one narration, he said: ...Then he should not cut (anything) from his hair, nor from his nails, until he performs the sacrifice.  Perhaps this is because of the similarity with the ones who is bringing a sacrificed animal for qurbani( in Haj). As Allah, the most High said: And donot shave your heads until the Hady(Sacrifice) reaches the place of sacrifice. The apparent meaning of this prohibition is that it is particularly for the one whom the sacrifice is for, and does not include the wife or children, unless there is an individual sacrifice for one of them. There is no harm in washing the head, or scratching it, even if hairs may fall out.
   9.  It is incumbent for the Muslim (who is not performing Hajj) to make every effort to perform the Eid Prayer wherever it is performed, and to be present for the Khutbah and benefit. He must know the wisdom behind the legislation of this Eid (celebration). It is a day of thankfulness and performing deeds of righteousness. So, he must not make it a day of wildness, pride and vanity. He should not make it a season for disobedience and increase in the forbidden things like music and singing, uncontrolled amusement, intoxicants and the like - those things which could cause the cancellation of the good deeds done in these days (of Dhu'l-Hijjah)
  10. After what has been mentioned, it is fitting that every Muslim, male and female, take advantage of these days by obeying Allah, the Most High, remembering Him, thanking Him, fulfilling all the obligatory duties, and staying far away from the prohibited things. He must take full advantage of this season, and the open display of Allah's gifts, to attain the pleasure of his Lord. Surely, Allah, the Most High, is the One Who Grants Success, and He is the Guide to the Straight Path. And may the blessings of Allah, the Most High, and peace be upon Muhammad and his family and companions!

2012 doomsday prophecy

The end of the world, would 2012 be a doomsday and be end of the world?
Would it be the day when the creator will release the curtain on the show that he has created?
Which would be followed by HIS Magnanimous and Majestic court ?

Numerous signs mentioned in the Hadeeth has come true, so is it time ???

Well answer is NO.

There are more signs to realize.
Return of Prophet Eisa(Jesus) may Allah shower peace upon him.
Emergence of Dajjaal.

The above two are the most prominent signs.

Most of us may not perhaps live long enough to see those days, for us our last moments in earth would be the beginning of our judgment day, which is certain.

There is nothing much to do more for the doomsday, than what you would do for your own personal 'doomsday'.

The only thing one can do is to make sure that it is not a doomsday but a celebration day, when the lover meets the beloved and the creation meets the creator.

When one prepares for that for them it is Eid(celebration day) for others ...

Well its just doomsday.

"O Allah make the culmination of all our matters good, and save us from the hardships of this world and the punishment of hereafter"

Kochi International Stadium Approach Road

Some believe scratches in car is a good luck charm, when a friend of mine went to fix a dent and repaint his car the mechanic said "Sir, it is good to have some scratches and marks in the car" my friend replied "Yeah, i have plenty of that in other places you need to fix only this ..."

The commissioning of Kochi international stadium, where football and international cricket is played was a long standing dream of the locals. The day it was inaugurated was grande and memorable, now its been years.

Topic for today is the approach road, its two double lanes separated by a median, but then it abruptly stops for some greenary, thats right no road but green.

So some one who is driving through the lane takes a turn to get to the opposite lane and then CROSS the GREEN and then come back to his lane.

I personally love greenery anywhere in the world, and we thankfully have some good greens.

But can we just fix only this Please ...

Halaal Food E Codes

May allah reward all those who take the efforts to guide this ummah to the straight path and give hidayath to all those who try to misguide this ummah! Aameen.

I would be pleased to list all the E codes mentioned in the forwarded email with it's explanation and halal/HARAM status:

E 100 = Turmeric.
Also known as Curcumin. Manjhal in malayalam. Turmeric, a representative of plant genus Curcuma, is a member of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae hence halal.

E110 = Sunset Yellow FCF.
This is a complete synthetic chemical formula sourced from coal tar and azo yellow dye. There is no relation proved to animal sources hence halal.

E 120 = Cochineal
This is red colour taken from crushed insects. HARAM.

E 140 = Chlorophylls and Chlorophyllins
This colour dye is taken from Spinach, nettles and grass. 100% plants and vegetable source hence halal.

E 141 = Chlorophylls and Chlorophyllins; Derivative.
This colour dye is a derived from the above ingredient hence halal.

E 153 = Vegetable carbon, Carbon black
This is derived from burnt vegetable matter hence halal.
It is sad to note that the very famous animal ingredient E 152 (mushbooh, according to the animal source) is not even listed in the forwarded email.

E 210 = Benzoic acid
This is 100% synthetic chemical with no animal sources. It is produced with the oxedation from oxygen, benzoin and petroleum derivatives. Hence, halal.

E 214 = Ethyl para-hydroxybenzoate
This a derivative of Benzoic acid, above ingredient. hence halal.

E 216 = Propyl para-hydroxybenzoate
This a derivative of Benzoic acid, above ingredient. hence halal.

E 234 = Nisin
This is a natural antimicrobial agent, derived from controlled fermentation of the naturally occurring bacteria Streptococcus lactis, found in milk. Organic laws of the world allows milk from domestic dairy animals (PIG is non dairy animal) only. Hence, halal.

E 252 = Potassium nitrate
This is taken from waste animal or vegetable matter. Only the producer would be able to disclose the source. Hence it depends on the source to be halal or HARAM.

E 270 = Lactic Acid
This is commercially produced by bacterial fermentation on starch and molasses. Also produced in large amounts in the large intestine by the resident bacteria. Although it can be produced synthetically, Animals are the common source for this ingredient and hence better avoided. Depending on the source, it can be halal or HARAM.

E 280 = Propionic acid
This is derived from ethylene and carbon monoxide or propionaldehyde, natural gas or fermented wood pulp. Hence halal.

E 325 = Sodium Lactate
This the sodium salt of Lactic acid (E 270). The same ruling applies here. Better avoided.

E 326 = Potassium Lactate
Same as above. Better avoided.

E 327 = Calcium Lactate
Same as above. Better avoided.

E 334 = Tartaric Acid.
This is a  natural, widely occurring, plant acid. Hence halal.

E 335 = Sodium Tartrate
Same as above. Hence halal.

E 336 = Potassium Tartrate
Same as above. Hence halal.

E 337 = Sodium Potassium Tartrate
Same as above. Hence halal.

Now, a common solution described by Halal experts are to avoid using products which contains ingredients above E 430 upto E 500. This is a general ruling. But there are exemptions. (Some are halal).
The list forwwarded has many E 400 numbers. I will only list those which are halal.

E 422 = Glycerol
This is produced either synthetically from propene, or by bacterial fermentation of sugars; it is not produced from fat. Glycerol doesnt contain alcohol either hence halal.

E 440 = Pectins
This is found in ripe fruits such as apples and plums but mainly prepared from citrus peel, traditionally lemons, limes and grapefruit. Hence halal.

E 476 = Polyglycerol polyricinoleate
This is produced from castor oil and glycerol esters (see E422). hence halal.

Rest of the numbers listed in the email from E 430 and above are all either Mushbooh or HARAM.

E 542 = Bone phosphate
This is derivated from animal bones hence HARAM.

E 570 = Stearic acid
This is normally prepared fro cotton seed oil etc.. but Animal source cannot be excluded. Hence depended on it's source it will be halal or HARAM.

E 572 = Magnesium Stearate
Same as above. Better avoided.

E 631 = Sodium Inosinate
This is taken from Animals and fishes. If taken from fishes, halal. Else, HARAM. Better avoided.

E 635 =
Sodium5-Ribonucleotide
Same as above. Better avoided.

E 904 = Shellac
This taken from lice. HARAM.

This completes all the E codes mentioned in your forwarded email. But, there are more HARAM e numbers which has to be brought into attention. I would suggest you to take a look at the HALAL E codes listed at Ask Imam website etc.. for better and correct information.
Please dont forward hoax emails like this to others so that Allah wont make us amongst those who misguide this ummah.

Wassalam,
Mouvli Zakariya bin Yahya.

[in his reply to e-codes forwarded to him. he has done research on the items (E codes) mentioned in the email.
Some of the items mentioned in the haram list appears to be wrong. Some of them are pure vegetarian spices, salt etc.. which has no connection to any animal.
Following was the list in the forwarded message which claimed to have PIG FAT. E100, E110, E120, E 140, E141, E153, E2l0, E213, E214, E216, E234, E252,E270, E280, E325, E326, E327, E334, E335, E336, E337, E422, E430, E431, E432, E433, E434, E435, E436, E440, E470, E472, E473, E474, E475,E476, E477, E478, E481, E482, E483, E491, E492, E493, E494, E495, E542,E570, ES 72, E631, E635, E904.]

EeePC 1005HA note book:a wonderful experience

After a long survey of laptops and notebooks scribbling through their specifications,I finally got one of my choice, the EeePC notebook.Every notebooks i looked at was having atom proceeser,1GB RAM,160GB hard disk bluetooth and wifi. My purpose was for making presentations for teaching and access of internet.

Initially I looked for dell laptops and notebooks but one of my colleague had complaints regarding its service in smaller towns. Well HP was my next choice but value for money was a priority. and I didn’t like the screen of notebook as it was strenuous to look at it.Sony was never my choice because I could never justify the cost. So I thought of looking at Acer notebook,a cute one.The price was much less(16K) than others. The battery backup was 6 hours which was good enough, weight was 1.3 kgs.Everything was ok for me before the dealer had put the battery in its slot. The battery took an extra space in the back so overall the dimensions increased.I thought I cannot carry it in my purse. And acer did not have a bluetooth. Finally my search ended at EeePC 1005HA. At first sight I liked it.An elegant seashell inpired design It is small but the keypad is bigger and more comfortable to use. (Right now I am using it to type this post). The battery backup is 10.5hrs enough for any train journey.

The screen is very clear and not strenuous. It has mikes for voice mail.Sound  quality is excellent.Wifi internet access,170GB storage and 1.3 M camera.Very handy and light. Can be carried in a purse. The touch pad has zoom in and zoom out features just by separating your fingers.I have been pleasantly surprised by the functionality of this notebook. You can have a look at its cnet reviews. And the price is 20K. It's truely awesome!!!!!! No doubt ASUS received 3056 awards in 2008.
