Quran Page 17: Abrogation and the Vastness of Allah (Surah Al-Baqarah 106-112)
📖 About Surah Al-Baqarah (Page 17)
In Page 17, Allah (SWT) asserts His absolute sovereignty over revelation, stating that He may abrogate a verse only to bring something better. The page encourages believers to forgive and overlook the envy of others until Allah's command comes. It also features one of the most comforting verses in the Quran, reminding us that Allah is not limited by geography: "To Allah belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah."
🌍 English Translation (Sahih International)
106. We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it...
110. And establish prayer and give zakah, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allah. Indeed, Allah of what you do, is Seeing.
112. Yes [on the contrary], whoever submits his face in Islam to Allah while being a doer of good will have his reward with his Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.
💡 Vocabulary & Tajwid Insights
| Arabic Word | Meaning / Rule |
|---|---|
| Nansakh (نَنْسَخْ) | We abrogate / We repeal. |
| Muhsin (مُحْسِنٌ) | A doer of good / One who performs excellence in faith. |
| Tajwid Rule | Qalqalah: Notice the word "Tajidūhu" (تَجِدُوهُ) in verse 110. If you were to stop on a word ending in 'Dal', 'Ba', 'Jeem', 'Taa', or 'Qaf', you would apply a bouncing sound. Here, the 'Dal' is in the middle, so keep it clear. Also, look at "Qadeer" (قَدِيرٌ) at the end of verse 106 for Madd Arid lis-Sukun. |
