RIP Yahoo Map, Find Latitude Longitude and Zoom : Leaflet + OpenStreetMap
Update (March 2026):
The original Yahoo! Maps API used in this post was discontinued. I have updated the code below to use Leaflet & OpenStreetMap to restore full functionality. The coordinate finder is now 100% active again!
This mashup is built to:
- Locate latitude/longitude of a place.
- Find zoom levels (Move the mouse over the map and click).
- Coordinate Loading (Click on "Load World").
- Display a location based on coordinates at a given zoom level (Provide values and click "Submit").
Finding Latitude and Longitude
Based On Name:
1. Enter a valid address (e.g., "San Francisco") in the input box.
2. Click "Find Place".
3. Use your mouse scroll or the map buttons to adjust the view.
The Way of the Explorer:
1. Click anywhere on the World Map.
2. Change the Zoom level in the box (try 12 for cities, 2 for world) and click "Submit".
3. Click "Load World" to start fresh.
